Lauryn Hill, 2022
Inspired by her seminal debut album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, which had a massive impact on me as a young teen, and continues to join me at every stage in my life - this pixelated portrait uses 19 colours, mostly greys but some pink/blue, to achieve the black & white “look” which captures this iconic woman how I see her. I hear her in dusty orange, but that’s another story of the joys of synesthesia.
